Archimages Awarded Two Firehouse Contracts
Projects Funded from Federal Stimulus Program
St. Louis, Mo., December 1, 2009 -- Archimages, Inc., a Kirkwood based architectural design firm, has received the commission to design two new firehouses in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The work will be funded by federal funds as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
In the state of Missouri, four communities were awarded $7.1 million in grants for the construction of new replacement fire stations. These successful grantees are located in the cities of Kansas City, Fulton, Winfield-Foley and University City.
Archimages won the right to design new fire stations for both Winfield-Foley and University City. The projects will be designed using sustainable and green building practices.
“We are excited to begin work on the firehouses for University City and Winfield-Foley,” says Greg Garner, president of Archimages. “We are thrilled to once again have the opportunity to showcase our special firehouse expertise that we have developed over the past ten years.”
Archimages has completed over forty (40) fire station and municipal projects since its inception in 1988. The firm has been selected on two occasions for fire station design excellence awards from the national publication of Fire Chief magazine.
In total, the federal government awarded $165 million in grant assistance for the construction of new and modified fire stations throughout the United States. The grant is managed by FEMA/Department of Homeland Security. The purpose of the grant is to build new or modify existing fire stations in order for departments to enhance their response capability and protect the community they serve from the fire and fire related hazards.
